Sometimes you just want to hear the hits, and this ride delivers with some of the most classic tracks just outside of McMinnville Oregon. After taking Backer Creek out of Mac, this rides gets straight to business with nearly 12 miles of climbing. The climb starts off paved on Willis Rd, then take a right on High Heaven Rd. When you get near the top of High Heaven, you will encounter a fork in the road; take the gate on the left. If the gravel is fresh, then the climbing will be more difficult on the steep sections around Von Rd. High Heaven takes you all the way to a triangle with Baker Creek and White Rd; take White Rd (if you are still going up, you are on the right track). You will come to a gate on your right for Wanless, which you will take (you should still be going up). Wanless will take you all the way to the top. There is a small spur at the top that you can take for panoramic views on a clear day. After soaking in the coast range vista, get ready for a premium descent of 1300ft/3mi. If the gravel is still hard packed, you will be in for a treat! At the bottom of Wanless Rd. there is a gate, take a left onto Peavine Rd. Peavine Rd will be undulating gravel for 5.5 miles, then turn to pavement. If you are in for a thrill and get into an aero tuck, the paved section of Peavine will let you eclipse 40 mph. When you get to the bottom of Peavine, you will have 5 miles to reflect on the ups and downs of your day as you roll back to Mac.
